Rosemary Seymour Awards
In 1974 Rosemary Seymour, a Waikato University sociologist, initiated a newsletter and a network of women interested in women's studies, that evolved into the Women's Studies Association. In 1985 a scholarship fund was established in her memory. The criteria for grants are : the quality of the research project, financial need and the relationship between the research project and the aims of the Women's Studies Association.
Two awards of $500 each are available each year; one for which only Maori women may apply; the other open to all women. In some years, the Association has been able to increase the number of awards granted.
In 2010 the fund will enable us to make three awards of $500 each; two for which only Maori women may apply, while the other is open to all women.
Applications are due on 31 October each year. For more information, download the Application Guidelines.
